Warm Transfer

A warm transfer is the live handoff from one party (e.g., an AI agent or a first-touch counselor) to another (a specialist counselor or clinician) with full context preserved, so the receiving party can pick up the conversation without restarting.

What Warm Transfer means

Distinct from a cold transfer (where the call is simply routed without context), a warm transfer carries the conversation summary, the payor verification result, the clinical-fit notes, and any specific patient requests. The receiving party knows what was said before they picked up.

Why it matters in behavioral health

Warm-transfer cleanliness is the single biggest predictor of post-handoff conversion. A messy handoff — patient has to repeat their story, counselor doesn't have payor info, clinical fit gets re-asked — loses patients at the moment of decision.

Real-world example
